Community Planting Day in Morden
Last weekend, we invited community groups and local residents in Morden to transform a key road junction in the town centre. A collaboration with Cultivate London, the project aims to show how even small green spaces can create opportunities for play, support nature and wildlife, and bring people together in our cities.
For the natural play-on-the-way boulders, we have been working with local stone sculptor Edgar Ward to develop designs that reference often overlooked parts of the surrounding streets. The boulders re-use offcuts and waste material from UK quarries, and feature patterns and textures drawn directly from a clay tile making workshop we undertook in Morden last year.
We are looking forward to sharing more photos of the completed scheme in the coming months.
Thank you to everyone who joined us - and for the endless cups of tea and biscuits.
